About Alstroemerias
Pronounced (al-str-MEAR-ee-ah)
Alstroemerias, also known as the Peruvian lily or Lily of the Incas, is a tuberous perennial plant native to South America, although some have become naturalized in other parts of the world.
A staple in many floral arrangements, Alstroemerias are beloved for their exotic, colorful, and versatile look, featuring bright-colored blossoms with a streaked or freckled pattern.
These blooms come in many colors and color combinations, including bicolor, pink, mauve, orange, white, hot pink, light yellow, red, light purple and yellow.
Alstroemerias resemble Lilies with slightly smaller, delicate, trumpet-shaped blooms that cluster in multiple flowers along their strong, bright green stems. Each flower has six petals that are up to 5 centimeters (2.0 inches) long.
They are great flowers to add more value to any floral arrangements and pair perfectly with larger, more dramatic flowers like roses. They also stand on their own, unlike many other cut flowers which need complimentary pairings.
