Winter Holiday Trends for 2019

Winter is such a magical time of year! It’s a much-welcomed season of gratitude, appreciation of simple joys, quality time with loved ones and the most beautiful display of colors, lights, and decor everywhere.

Do you have your holiday style moodboards ready yet, floral professionals?

While traditions around the world may vary, the one thing that remains true for every type of celebration is the necessity of festive decor. The key is to keep it inviting, warm and personalized with a little piece of your inner magic.

With so many holiday options and styles out there, there is no one best way to do it. The classic palette of reds, greens, whites, and silvers is always a fantastic choice for a more traditional look, but the alternatives are endless. Year after year, floral professionals around the world challenge their creativity by trying to introduce new, innovative holiday trends and ideas that top last year’s looks.

We decided to dig deep and look at several high-profile floral experts to discover what trends are making a bold statement for this upcoming winter season. And this month, we bring you the hottest winter holiday trends for 2019:

All White, Everything!

There is absolutely nothing simple or plain about the “all white” minimalist holiday look that is really hot this season! While the palette may be monochrome, the attention to detail required to execute this look is not to be underestimated.

Textures and finishes are key to making this trend look intricate and majestic. Adding a dash of sparkle or glimmer transforms this style into a truly magical display.

Non-traditional Color Palette

If you are looking for an unconventional, bold and modern look, try to switch up the color palette for this year’s holiday moodboard. Go with a more a color you don’t normally see in traditional holiday decor – like bright pinks, yellows or rose gold. Then incorporate festive accents to tie the look together and give it a festive vibe.

Rustic and Refined

A fresh take on combining vintage and contemporary elements together to create some festive but cozy ambiance. This style calls for layering colors, textures and patterns to set “the look” but stripping the decor down to key centerpieces and thinking outside the box. And don’t you just love the idea of using roses as ornaments on a tree?

“We hung ornaments on this tree last year, but for this lunch we wired in roses, pinecones, sprigs of rosemary, and greenery for a feminine look.” – Marjorie Johnston & Wendy Barze of JoJo Home

Keepin’ It Classic

There is no need to reinvent the wheel. Holiday classics will never go out of style, but you can absolutely have some fun with how you personalize them.

“I looked to a classic Christmas palette for all the designs. I’m rather an old soul at heart, and tradition always speaks to me, especially during the holidays.” – Canaan Marshall

Get the look by mixing lots of foliage and greenery textures together with classic red and white roses. Include a variety of non-traditional blossoms (tulips, orchids, pennycress, etc) for added texture and ambiance.

Let us know what are some of our favorite holiday decor trends this year!
